Jewelry Care
We've sought out the best materials for affordable prices so you can wear our pieces knowing you invested in quality. All of our pieces in our jewelry collection are made of gold vermeil - a sterling silver base with a thick layer of 14 karat gold. The difference between vermeil and regular gold plating is the thickness of gold. Vermeil offers a much thicker layer of gold and therefore, will not rub off or wear down as easily. Gold plating most often have bases of copper or brass, which tend to be more irritating on sensitive skin.
Proper care is most important for the longevity of your jewelry. Here are some tips to help your jewelry last longer.
Vermeil:
1) Avoid wearing your vermeil jewelry in the shower or in water. With any jewelry, soaps, shampoos, and other chemicals in pools can effect your jewelry. It's best to take your jewelry off to keep it looking shiny!
2) Avoid cleaning solutions, lotions and perfumes as these can also wear the layer of gold.
3) Constant rubbing or wear on certain areas of your jewelry will eventually cause the gold to wear down.
Solid 14 karat gold:
Many of our pieces are available in solid 14 karat gold for pre-order. While solid gold can last a life time, it is a softer metal and can be delicate. Occasional polishing can help keep shine up your jewelry, but avoid chemical cleaners as this can be too harsh.
Sterling SIlver:
Sterling silver is a solid metal and does not require too much upkeep. However, over time the silver can darken. Simply polish your pieces back to it's original shine using a soft cloth.
